All the stats highlights from the two high-scoring matches at the BBL. For the first time in the Big Bash League (BBL), two players scored centuries on the same day! Steven Smith smashed an unbeaten 121 runs, while Matthew Short scored 109.

The Adelaide Strikers scored 251 runs for 5 wickets, the second-highest team total in BBL history. Only the Melbourne Stars have scored more, with 273 for 2 in 2022. This was just the second time a team passed 250 runs in a menโ€™s T20 match in Australia.

Steven Smithโ€™s centuries now equal Ben McDermottโ€™s record for the most hundreds by a player in the BBL.

The match between the Strikers and the Heat saw 446 runs scored in total, making it the second-highest-scoring BBL game. The top spot is held by a 459-run match between the Strikers and Hurricanes in 2023. Earlier the same day, the Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers scored 426 runs, the sixth-highest total in BBL history.

The Sydney Sixers scored 220 for 3, their highest total in the BBL. This beat their previous best of 213 for 4 against the Melbourne Stars in 2021.

Matthew Short hit his hundred in just 49 balls, the fastest century ever by a Strikers player. He broke Travis Headโ€™s record of a 53-ball hundred, set on New Yearโ€™s Eve in 2015 against the Sixers.

Highest Totals in BBL

The Strikers reached 100 runs in just 6.4 overs, the third-fastest in BBL history. The top two fastest scores belong to the Brisbane Heat: 100 runs in six overs against the Thunder in 2020 and 6.3 overs against the Stars in 2019.

The Strikers scored 134 runs in their first 10 overs, the second-most by any team in a BBL innings. The record is 158 runs by the Heat against the Stars in 2019.

The match between the Strikers and Heat saw 26 sixes, tying the record for the most in a BBL game. This matches the Sixers vs. Stars game in 2020.

The game also had 60 boundaries, the second-highest in BBL history. The record is 61 boundaries in a Strikers vs. Stars match in 2023.

The Strikers smashed 14 sixes against the Heat, their highest in a single BBL innings. Their previous best was 12 sixes in 2014.

For the first time in BBL history, three bowlers gave away 50 or more runs in an innings. Michael Neser and Xavier Bartlett conceded 53 runs each, while Matthew Kuhnemann gave up 50. This was also the first BBL innings where five bowlers conceded 40 or more runs.
