Strikers Dominate Heat with Mammoth 251-5 in Big Bash Clash
The Adelaide Strikers smashed the second-highest total in Big Bash League history, beating the Brisbane Heat by 56 runs.
The Strikers batted first and scored 251-5, a total only topped by the Melbourne Stars’ 273-2 in 2022.
They got off to a flying start, reaching 88-0 in the six-over powerplay and 164-1 after 12 overs, putting them on track to break the record.
Matt Short scored the fastest century in Strikers’ history, smashing 109 runs off 54 balls. Chris Lynn added 47, and Alex Ross stayed unbeaten on 44.
The Heat, in response, were bowled out for 195 on the last ball of the innings. DโArcy Short stood out with the ball, taking 4 wickets for just 15 runs.
This victory lifted the Strikers off the bottom of the table, while the defending champions, the Heat, dropped to fourth, putting their chances of reaching the knockouts at risk.
